When Healing Isn’t the Answer—Just Being There Is

1–2 minutes

This is my old girl Chase. She was 15 in photo. Always a good eater, Chase didn’t eat her dinner last Wednesday night. Her tummy looked big and her breathing was fast. I took her to the vet Thursday, and when she came into the room without Chase, I knew the news was bad. The ultrasound showed Chase had a growth in her liver and spleen. Friday’s blood test results showed just what the vet thought. Chase declined pretty rapidly, but she held on until the vet re-opened on Monday. We were blessed to spend the weekend with Chase before her homegoing this Monday.

Even with her back legs not working like they did at the beginning of the week, I woke up to Chase lying close to me, purring lightly with her little tongue sticking out. I feel honored that Chase came out of her hiding spot and chose me to be a safe place for her. Sometimes knowing that no amount of sound healing, energy work, or prayer can change the transformation process is the best thing we can do. Being a safe place and present is sometimes all any one of us needs.

I wish safety and comfort to all of you during this coming weekend.
